Summer Fun Has Officially Arrived

2009 Sidewalk Days are shaping up to be the best ever.  Many more of our downtown merchants will be out on the bricks this year along with a record number of regional vendors for your shopping pleasure.    A spectacular variety of food vendors will line the streets as well.  Along with our favorites from past years, brats, gyros, donuts and caramel corn; new and exciting flavors from the Saigon Cafe and Team Uffda will be offered for the delight of your taste buds.  Fun for the kids is available with a moonwalk and balloon typhoon with street entertainment for everyone on every block.  Superior Street will be open to pedestrian traffic from 9 – 5 daily for your shopping, eating and entertainment pleasure.

Rock the Block Kicks Off with a Toe Tapping Success

Popular local band Don’t Panic combined with a hot summer night to kick off the Rock the Block summer concert series in front of the Radisson Hotel last Thursday night.  Fans retreated to the shade to tap their toes and enjoy the show with their refreshing beverages, grilled burgers and hot dogs. The heat couldn’t keep the dancers in the 350 plus mass in their seats for long though, halfway through Don’t Panic’s first set of favorites happy feet could be contained no longer and made their way to the sun drenched bricks of Superior Street to dance a few hours away.

The next free Rock the Block concert is this Thursday, July 9th in the 100 block of West Superior Street and features blues favorite Brandon Scott Sellner.

Open House at the Depot

As St. Louis County studies the feasibility to return passenger rail facilities to the Depot, the public is invited to an Open House on July 8th from 4-6PM.  This is an exciting time for the Downtown area---employees and residents are encouraged to help shape the future of this plan by sharing ideas on how to accommodate the service as well as capitalize on the potential for new development in the surrounding area.

Volunteers Needed for Bentleyville Tour of Lights

The holiday season isn’t the only time volunteers are needed for the Bentleyville Tour of Lights.  The major lighting display is coming to Bayfront Park this year and hundreds of volunteers are needed to help make it a success.  Lend a hand now to help restore light displays or pledge your commitment for later in the season.  Click here to fill out an application.
